Whether you enjoy flatlays, architecture or OOTD shots, here are some places in Selangor you’d never thought would be Instagram-worthy and could potentially be your next OOTD spot.


1. Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur


Smack in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Taman Tasik Titiwangsa is one of KL’s largest and most popular recreational parks. With its lush greenery and large ponds, Taman Tasik Titiwangsa proves to be a wonderful location for picnic Instas, outdoor fashion shoots and distant shots of the KLCC.

2. Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur


Putrajaya may be filled with boring government offices left, right and center but around them are some pretty impressive infrastructure. There are some beautiful bridges around the area for all you architecture lovers and followers of symmetry to create that perfect perspective photo in Inkwell.


3. Masjid Bandar Diraja, Klang


Standing majestically at the edge of the Klang River is Masjid Bandar Diraja in all its golden dome grandeur. Mosques hold intricate architectural details if you are into photographing buildings but better yet, it makes a unique background for profile shots and OOTDs. Also, it keeps people guessing where the actual location is!

4. Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC), Kuala Lumpur


The ever iconic KLCC is one of the most elegant buildings in Kuala Lumpur not just because it is our tallest tower but also it has some interesting curves and edges. These curves and edges work really well in a tiny square frame but better yet, its monochromatic tones and steel panels work as the perfect canvas for your bright, stylish outfits. If the building is not to your liking, you can find picturesque spots all over KLCC’s park as well.

5. Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Kuala Lumpur


Sultan Abdul Samad or better known as Dataran Merdeka holds many of Malaysia’s most historical moments in its grounds. The faded red bricks and symmetrical Islam-influenced arches adds character to any photograph, contributing to a piece of artwork without much effort. It can be tricky to find the right angle with such a humongous building but that’s the fun part, right?

6. Batu Caves, Selangor




When people think of Batu Caves, more often than not the picture of its 272 steps pops into your head or maybe even images of Thaipusam for some but as an Instagrammable location? Not so much. But believe it or not, taken at the right angles, Batu Caves can be captured beautifully and full of live with the hustling and bustling of tourists and locals alike. Its colourful stairs with limestone mountains cascading in the background has to be the perfect combination of what a photo should be!


7. Merchant’s Lane Cafe, Kuala Lumpur


Of all the new cafe additions to Kuala Lumpur, Merchant’s Lane has stole our hearts with their wonderfully Malaysian yet wonderfully modern interior design. With renowned Malaysian architect Ng Sek San having played a role in this, it is no wonder Merchant’s Lane finds such a delicate balance between reclaimed materials, nature and modern minimalism. For all you coffee lovers and foodies, you know where to go for that picture perfect moment of you sipping your after lunch cuppa Joe.

8. Petaling Street (Chinatown), Kuala Lumpur



Another historical site in Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown is home to some of Kuala Lumpur’s oldest heritage buildings with some semblance of Baba-Nyonya influence. Wooden panels and wooden shutters with tight 5-foot walkways, Chinatown has a special charm to it that fortunately for us, can be effortlessly captured into tiny squares.

With such a spectacular view, Marini’s on 57 is quickly becoming the hottest hangout spot in Kuala Lumpur.

One of Kuala Lumpur’s newest addition to our already huge family of shopping malls, NU Sentral is proving to be the most modern architecturally speaking with many symmetrical lines calling for a perspective shot. Their use of steel sheets and steel beams make every architecture enthusiasts’ heart skip a beat.

16. Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong



Forest reserve and recreational park, FRIM is mostly made up of tropical trees and greeneries for as far as the eye can see. A popular location for hiking, bird watching, canopy walks and wedding photoshoots, FRIM is beautiful at every corner it is easy to capture an Insta-worthy photo. A tip you should know is to be early to catch the morning sun - the sun streaming through the canopy makes for a dreamy, fantasy-like picture.

Bukit Bintang is like the beating heart of Kuala Lumpur, filled to the brim with hotels and luxurious shopping malls. For some pointers, Sephora Kuala Lumpur is probably the most prominent Insta-spot of the lot due to its extravagant exterior but Pavilion’s fountain doesn’t fall too far from the charts either.


23. Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur


An upscale neighbourhood a way away from Kuala Lumpur’s city center, Mont Kiara resembles Hong Kong’s compact lifestyle with its tall condominiums and buildings - a drool-inducing notion for urbanscape enthusiasts. Even if you aren’t into tall buildings, looking up once in awhile could bring you surprising perspectives.


24. Sentul Park, Kuala Lumpur


If you are looking for a place to immerse in nature and art, Sentul Park is the place made for you to do just that. Located next to KL Performing Arts Center (KLPac), it only makes sense that the park embodies as much art as its theater. KLPac and Sentul Park both exude industrial-style themes with an emphasis on reusable and recyclable materials. There are installations around the park along with some ruin-like brick walls covered with crawler plants for that mystical mood. Throw in a faded filter and it’s almost like you’re dreaming.

25. Laman Seni, Lorong Belakang Seksyen 7, Shah Alam


Not the newest addition to the KL art scene but an intriguing one no less, Laman Seni in Shah Alam is a transformed back lane, restored into an art exhibition of wall murals. Showcasing some of KL’s most talented artists, Laman Seni’s eclectic murals speak for themselves telling you that there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be Instagramming it. Colourful, vibrant and sometimes crazy, Laman Seni is definitely worth checking out. Anything for a good picture!
