superb mashed potato

It might be quite unlikely but although Fish & Co serve great food, the one thing that i always look forward to would be their side of mashed potato. No matter what dish i decide on at the end of the day, getting the mashed potato as a side is a must for me. the portion is just right, considering the general large serving of the main meals itself. the mashed potato is served such that there is a creamy coat on the top and center part of the potato base which compliments each other tremendously. hence, the rather bland mash is completely compensated with the delicious cream at the top.

whoever that came up with it is quite a genius i must say. perfect combination. another must-have would be the mussels in garlic lemon sauce. It is delicious beyond words and i fell in love with it from the first time i had a taste. Although the portion is rather big, that is essentially the only criticism i have of it. It is sufficiently creamy yet not agonising on the throat. No fishy stench to the mussels at all and despite being quite particular about seashells, i honestly had no worry of it being under cooked. It was fresh and simply delicious.

Other dishes are great as well and definitely worth the money spent. Although there are other seafood restaurants like Manhattan Fish Market, i think Fish & Co has a lot to offer and keeps me going back for more.

Great ambiance

The Fish & Co outlet at Glass House is the best place for a large group gathering. Really. The ambiance is amazing, there's good live music every evening, and you can be sure that there will be enough space on weekdays even without reservation.

The Glass House outlet is cozy and warm. Muslim friends will also not be left out as the food Fish & Co serves is certified halal, making it an ideal choice for a get-together with a diverse group of friends/family. The food is good too, although a tad over-priced when there are no student deals. The signature Fish & Chips is so sinful but promises maximum satisfaction.

Service is also fast and speedy - iPads are used to place orders. Definitely a convenient choice when you are stumped for lunch/dinner ideas.

Great student meals. Others? Less so.

Of all the times I've been to Fish and Co, 90% of them was for lunch and for their student meal, which is probably one of the best student meals you can find on offer in Singapore. For $9.50 NETT, they offer you a main course and their speciality drinks. Separately, they would cost over $20 - that's a 50% discount right there just for eating there during lunch - if you're a student.

They're Fish and Chips are indeed arguably, the "best fish and chips in town". Don't actually order that one though, because it's just plain fish and chips. I myself am partial to the New York Fish and Chips and their Swiss Fish and Chips, basically using fish that is stuffed with different cheeses - cheddar for New York and Mozzarella for Swiss. For $9.50, it's an absolute steal. At their original $17.95 though, it's more of an extremely overpriced piece of fish (especially when you consider that they use the extremely un-savoury Dory fish).

The pasta here is decent as well, but not to be raved about. Their seafood platter for 1, while tasty, will burn quite a hole in your pocket. If you're dining here during dinner/not a student, I would recommend their seafood platter - it has quite a variety of seafood and left me quite full. Their Fish and Chips is the real deal: look through their menu of fish and chips and you're bound to find something that suits your taste, especially if you're a cheese lover (unless you hate fried fish).

Their service standards are also rather commendable, given that their staff are always smiling. In fact, you get a free item if you catch any staff not smiling, according to one of their notices. In reality, though, I've never seen them actually do that - I myself have caught the manager frowning on multiple occasions but never had the heart to point it out. She was probably having a really bad day.

All in all, their fish and chips are indeed good, but their hefty price tag deters me from going back once I lose my student pass. Otherwise, it's a 100% recommendation.

Bring on the fish and chips!!

I remember eating here when I was younger and loving it because we got to eat out of a pan. Now, I go back at least once a month for their fish and chips! The danish fish and chips is my favourite, plus the student meal makes it really worth it, less than $10 for a huge pan of fish and chips and a drink.

A word of caution, the fish and chips can be quite gelat as there's cheese inside, so if you want to skip that, order the original - Best Fish and Chips in Town

Another dish that I love is the Ebiko fish ($16.95). It's perfect, dory fish and cheese and ebiko roe come together to create a delicious meal. Add the mashed potato and you're good to go! Another popular item is the garlic lemon mussels, which come with bread to mop up the addictive sauce. Major thumbs up!!!

Overpriced Food

I recently visited Fish & Co after such a long time and to be honest, I was quite surprised at how the service have improved so much. The last time I went there (which was last year I think), we had to wait so long for our food. This time round, we got to order on an iPad and the food came quite quickly as well. I liked the idea of using an iPad to order but somehow found it slightly confusing.

The food was decent, it wasn't super nice but it wasn't super bad either. But, for its quality, I think it's overpriced. Normal portions come close to $20 while fingerlings, which are like kids portion, come close to $10.

I think Fish & Co is a great place if you just need somewhere to chill and eat. It's also not too crowded so you don't have to make reservations before hand!

Pleasant family-friendly restaurant

I went to Fish and Co. a while back and I think it was a pretty decent family restaurant. They offer a good selection of the Kids' Menu, which was nice, considering that I have a rather picky younger brother. The rest of my family and I ordered a seafood platter that consisted of calamari, lobster and mussels. It was simply delicious and the lobster was probably the best part of it all. It was already shelled which made it a rather pleasant experience, as eating lobster can usually be quite a chore when it coming to cracking the shell and peeling it off with your bare fingers.

The lobster was glazed with a soft interior that wasn't too chewy and was cooked really well. This blew me off especially considering how the price range for this restaurant is really not that high, but the quality was definitely above that. The calamari rings were also crispy and once again not too chewy. Squirting lemon juice on it, added a hint of acidity which gave the snack a kick of flavour.

The service was pretty decent, we were served within 10 minutes and the staff often came around to ask us how the food was. The atmosphere was also light and it makes a good 'sunday afternoon' restaurant.

Crispy fish and too much fries

My first dine in experience was good and bad. Bad was because the fish and chips ordered tasted bitter (have no idea why). So we told the staff and the manager came and got us a new serving which somehow still taste a little bitter and he made his rounds and changed for us again which is really 'wow'. He was very apologetic and nice, not to mention, the service was great. It appeared that only we had the problem and other customers have none which is still baffling me till now whenever I think about it.

Recently I tried Fish & Co. again, and I would have to say I'm quite satisfied with it. Fresh and crispy fish and lots of fries, I left the restaurant feeling incredibly full, I can never finish the fries! I always love the battered fish they have there, as contary to the usual breaded fish you get. Something that is interesting is the many varieties of fish and chips they have there, so you can try the different kinds of food culture (according to countries),

Personally love the Danish Fish and chips, but I never really taste the difference between the New York and Danish, maybe there's a slight variation since Danish has a little spice to it. The pan they serve their dish is quite cute too, with that little flag that spells out the country for you.

I would go again when I'm having cravings for fish and chips but I have to say it's a little pricey - $18 for fish and chips alone (GST and Svc charge inclusive).

A good place for a nice dinner

I went for dinner at the Fish and Co outlet in Ion Orchard and it was a good experience. The ambience of the restaurant is very good and provides a very cosy and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for dates or a catch-up session.

The food, though being quite delicious, is a little pricey. The portion of it could also do better. I also noticed that at some parts of the restaurant the tables were quite close to each other, making it easy for customers beside you to eat in on your conversation.

Nevertheless it is still a good place to have a nice dinner. I appreciate how the manager would do rounds on the restaurant and check on each table to see if the customers were doing alright.

Favourite for my kids

My kids loved Fish & Co, especially my daughter. She loved it so much that when we were in Hong Kong a few years, she saw a Fish & Co restaurant and said she only wanted to eat there.

The selling point of Fish & Co was their big serving of food. My wife and I could not finish a seafood platter for two. I also liked the Kola Tonic there. To end the meal, you must definitely order the hot fudge chocolate cake with ice cream. The hot cake with the cold ice cream was like a match made in heaven.

Also the mint sweets given after you settled the bill, that was a good thought. Something refreshing after a heavy meal.

Different flavours of fish~

Decided to try the food at Fish & Co. when I noticed the student menu. It includes a main dish and a drink. What caught my attention from the menu was the interesting variations of fish 'flavours' they have, using countries to represent each dish, Each dish is unique in the ingredients that are being topped onto or inside the fish. For example, their 'Swiss' fish is topped with swiss cheese (I may be wrong, but it's an example. I remember seeing cheese melted on it though).

I decided to try their 'Japanese' fish, which has cheese melted inside the fish, and is topped with furikake. It was served with fries and soba sauce as a dip. For my drink, the name 'Cola Tonic' caught my attention, so I just had to try it!

The Cola Tonic was basically Sprite with cola syrup. The combination was awesome, and it went well with my fish!

Then the fish came. Firstly, I couldn't taste any cheese, so I was sort of disappointed with that. Maybe I could taste it at certain bites, or maybe it was just my imagination... The furikake gave the fish a nice kick though! Tried to dip the fish into the soba sauce, but it was extremely salty! The fries tasted nicer with the dipping sauce though. In the end, I couldn't finish my food, and I ultimately blame it on the fries. Yes, for $8.90, it was pretty HUGE, the whole thing!

I might come back here again, should I be craving for fish. Am definitely curious to try other 'country' flavours. They even have a 'Singapore' dish, but I think the sauce is a spicy one, so I'll pass (not a spicy food person here, sorry). But yes, definitely worth a try for all you students out there!

Confused orders

Fish is one of my must-have food and Fish & Co. is definitely a heaven for all fish lovers. My few visits were pretty good, till the time I visit the branch at Nex mall.

My friends and I were on money-saving mode and hence decided to have their student lunch special. But we were not given the menu for it and guess what? We took about five minutes to get just one staff's attention and we got their manager's (there were not many customers around). I just find it a little funny that the manager is serving all the customers while other staffs are standing and chatting around.

That aside, what made us a little upset was all the orders mixed up. Our drinks were given wrongly and after a change, they were still wrong. Furthermore, the waiting time for our food were pretty long (we were joking that they need time to fish and just season our fillet) considering the very little number of customers. Though good food are worth waiting, but a hungry man is an angry man. We were starving with all the changing... geez.

To be fair, their fish are really nice. Swiss fish and chip are cheesy and Danish fish and chip is just normal. I like that there are some sauces in the fish itself. Their fries are slightly spicy which is good but it gets a little too salty for me the more I eat.

The ambience is comfy for a good catch up with friends. Oh, and make sure your stomach can wait for good food!
